In recognition of Alopecia Awareness Month, I along with several other NAAF volunteers were asked to create a message about who our heroes are. In considering the question, “What is a hero?” I thought of the qualities of being brave, smart and strong. I ultimately came to the conclusion that, no matter the wonderful doctors and friends I’ve shared my alopecia journey with over the years, no one stands up to the strength, bravery and ingenuity I’ve found in myself. As alopecians, I’m sure we can all relate. So, I salute me, for the road I continue to walk toward self-actualization, and I honor the hero inherent in each and every one of you.
